Company Auditions

Ballet Wichita holds company auditions each season for professional and pre-professional dancers. We welcome dancers who are serious about their training, committed to growth, and ready to be part of something larger than themselves.

2026 Auditions

Audition Date and Requirements

Date: August 8, 2026


Location: Ballet Wichita Studio, 1600 W Douglas Ave, Wichita KS 67203

 

Professional Company: Open to dancers 18 and older
Pre-Professional Company: Open to dancers 13 and older

What to prepare:

  • A current dance resume

  • Two letters of recommendation from dance educators or directors

  • Comfortable, professional audition attire

  • Ballet slippers and pointe shoes if applicable

 

Video auditions:
Dancers who cannot attend in person may submit a video audition. Contact Katie Andrusak for submission guidelines before the audition date.

What to Expect at Auditions

Location & Parking

Ballet Wichita Studios

1600 W Douglas Ave, Wichita KS

Parking available on-site — fills quickly. Families are encouraged to drop off and return at dismissal. Lobby seating is not available.

Registration

All dancers must pre-register online using the audition-specific form and complete a Ballet Wichita DSP account. A separate form is required per dancer. Audition fee: $30.

In the Audition

A guest teacher leads class while the Artistic Director and Company Director observe for casting and placement. Dancers may be photographed, measured, and videotaped to assist with casting decisions.

After Auditions

Within 7 days, dancers receive email notifications for casting and/or placement. A Letter of Commitment and Production Fee are required to accept a role.

Attire

Girls/Women: black leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers or pointe shoes.

 

Boys/Men: all black.

 

Hair secured in a bun. No skirts, leg warmers, or jewelry.

Ballet Wichita's Company is made up of two tracks: a Professional Company and a Pre-Professional Company. Placement is determined by the artistic directors based on technique, training, artistry, and overall readiness. The accordion below outlines each level.
