Hands-on sewing classes for all skill levels, taught at Ballet Wichita Studio by Sewing Manager, Jan Doran.

Jan will guide you from your very first stitch to building a full ballet costume.

Learn to Sew — at Every Level

Ballet Wichita's sewing classes are open to the community — ages 12 and up, all skill levels welcome. Whether you've never touched a sewing machine or you're ready to build a ballet bodice, there's a class for you.

Classes are offered in four levels — from foundational skills to custom project work — and all registration is handled through Dance Studio Pro, the same platform we use for Academy enrollment.

Classes take place at 1600 W Douglas Ave, Wichita KS 67203.

Level 1 is designed for complete beginners — no sewing experience required. You'll learn the foundational skills that every sewist needs: how to use a sewing machine, read a pattern, cut fabric, and complete a finished project from start to end.

Skill level

No experience required. All materials and instruction provided. Just bring yourself.

Registration opens through our class booking platform

Level 2 builds on foundational skills to tackle more complex projects. Students should have some familiarity with a sewing machine and basic techniques — or completion of Level 1. You'll work with more advanced patterns, new materials, and more detailed construction methods.

Skill level

Some sewing experience helpful. Completion of Level 1 or equivalent skill level recommended.

Level 3 is for confident sewists ready to take on the more technical and rewarding work of ballet costume construction. You'll learn professional techniques used in theatrical costume-making — including boning, tutu construction, and detailed finishing work.
